Jerry
Varnado,
pastor February
11, 2007 1) The
blood of the Lamb.
It
is by and through the
blood of Jesus that the
same power of the Spirit
that raised Jesus from
the dead comes to live
in our lives. (Ephesians
1:18-20). It
is this overwhelming
power from God that
enables us to overcome
all the power of the
enemy. Jesus
was truly the Lord of
their lives. 1) The
insufficiency of human
effort.
We cannot save ourselves
and we can't live
successfully without
God. The
Old Testament law
demonstrated human
insufficiency. People
could not obey
it. There
is no sin, no problem,
difficulty, hardship, no
hurt or pain that is
beyond the reach of His
healing, redeeming
grace. 1) Expression
builds
faith.
We probably do not
really believe until we
are willing to speak.
As
we do open our mouths
and speak our faith is
strengthened because we
commit
ourselves. Speaking
and confessing the
Lordship of Jesus helps
build that faith that
overcomes the
world.

A
GATEWAY SERMON
SUMMARY
Called
to testify
Gateway
Church,
Athens GA

2)
The
word of
testimony.
This is the subject I
will focus on
today.
3)
Total
commitment to
Christ.
The believers
described in Revelation
12 were so in love with
Jesus and so committed
to the cause of the
Kingdom it was more
important to them than
life itself.
2)
The
total sufficiency of
Christ.
Jesus is able to save
completely.
3)
That
God's power is available
to us and will transform
our lives.
A
testimony, properly
presented will witness
to a "power encounter":
the Kingdom of God
overcoming the Kingdom
of darkness and
overcomes it.
2)
Testifying
is part of becoming an
overcomer.
1 John 5:4 says that
"everyone born of God
overcomes the world.
This is the victory that
has overcome the world,
even our
faith."
3)
Testifying
encourages other
believers.
It
strengthens their faith
as they see the power of
God a work through our
lives.
4)
Testifying draws
others To Jesus.
When someone hear the
testimony of God's power
working in another
person's life, often it
will often create in
them a longing for
God.
Oswald Chambers wrote:
"You can never give
another person what you
have found, but you can
make them homesick for
the same
thing."
5)
We
are called by Christ to
to be witnesses to
Him.
We must walk our talk.
But we must also talk
our walk.
If our faith is a
private matter it is not
the faith that Jesus or
the New Testament
writers proclaimed.
We don't witness to our
faith by the way we live
our lives only. We have
to tell people why we
are who we are -- and
why we do what we do.
