Years ago, when I first heard that Boggs Chapel United Methodist Church had changed its name to Gateway, I thought, “What a great name for a church!” And now, by the providence of God, I find myself as lead pastor at Gateway.
The name sums up what we are all about. In the Gospel of John, Jesus describes himself in two ways. First He says, “I am the ‘gate’; whoever enters through me will be saved” (10:9a). Then He says, “I am the ‘way,’ the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (14:6).
That’s what we are seeking to be at Gateway. We want to be the gate that leads people to THE GATE where salvation may be found. We also want to be a way that leads people to THE WAY — the only way — to find real peace.
I hope that you enjoy our website, and I hope you will join us Sunday at 10:45 a.m. for powerful contemporary worship. I promise you that you will never visit a church that will welcome you more with the love of Christ.
Come as you are — but plan to leave differently!
In Him,
Tom Atkins
